Performance Rigging Help#
Performance Rigging is an Autodesk Revit add-in that automates the layout, numbering, and documentation of theatrical rigging linesets — the battens, pipes, hoists, and drapes that hang above a performance stage.
The application works with rigging family instances placed in your model and keeps their position data synchronized with a reference plane such as the stage plaster line. It handles the repetitive geometry, distance tracking, and numbering that would otherwise require extensive manual coordination between the model and the rigging schedule.
What the application does#
- Measures and stores each lineset's distance from a chosen reference plane
- Duplicates linesets at a fixed spacing to lay out a full rigging system quickly
- Numbers linesets automatically in order of their distance from the reference plane
- Keeps the rigging schedule and the model geometry in agreement — either on demand or automatically as linesets are moved
- Pins linesets to protect them from accidental movement during design
Before you begin#
If this is your first time using Performance Rigging, follow the steps in Getting Started to install the add-in, then review Concepts to understand how linesets and reference planes work together.
Important
Performance Rigging is a documentation and coordination tool. It does not perform structural, load, or rigging-capacity analysis, and it does not verify code compliance or working-load limits. It is the responsibility of the rigging designer to apply appropriate engineering judgment for each project.
