Duplicating Linesets#
The Duplicate Lineset command copies a selected lineset a chosen number of times at a chosen spacing, laying the copies out along the reference plane. It is the fastest way to build a regularly spaced run of battens or pipes.
Before you start#
The lineset you duplicate must already have a reference plane associated with it. If it does not, the command stops and asks you to run Select Reference first.
Steps#
- Select the lineset you want to duplicate. (You may select it first, or you will be prompted to pick one.)
- On the Linesets panel, click Duplicate Lineset.
- In the dialog, enter:
- Quantity to Duplicate — how many copies to create (a whole number).
- Lineset Spacing — the distance between copies, entered in your model's units. The dialog also shows the Venue Name of the source lineset for reference.
- Click OK.
How the copies are placed#
Copies are offset from the source lineset along the reference plane's normal direction, one spacing increment apart. For each copy, the add-in:
- Sets the copy's distance to the source distance plus the cumulative spacing.
- Sets the copy's designation by incrementing the source lineset's number.
Copies are placed relative to the selected lineset
Duplication is based on the position of the lineset you select. If you select a lineset in the middle of an existing group, the new copies can land on top of linesets that are already there. Duplicate from the last lineset in a run, or review the result afterward.
The updater pauses during duplication
If the automatic updater is enabled, it is temporarily suspended while the copies are created and then re-enabled, so duplication does not trigger a cascade of location updates.
