Troubleshooting#

This section covers common issues and frequently asked questions. The steps below resolve the majority of problems before needing to contact support.

First steps#

Check that your families are recognized as linesets#

Most "the command did nothing" problems come down to the family not being recognized. Confirm the instance is in the Specialty Equipment category and that its type has the "Is Lineset" parameter set to Yes. See Linesets.

Confirm a reference plane is set#

The duplication and synchronization commands need a reference plane. If a command reports that no reference is stored, run Select Reference and pick the plane again — the current selection is forgotten when Revit closes.

Check the log file#

The application writes a log file that can help identify the cause of errors not explained by an on-screen message:

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Performance BIM\PerformanceRigging.log

Enable verbose logging to capture step-by-step detail, then reproduce the problem. If you contact support, include this file.

Contacting support#

For issues not resolved by the FAQ, contact Performance BIM at support@performancebim.com. Include a brief description of the problem, the Revit version in use, the Performance Rigging version (from the About dialog), and the log file if relevant.
