1. Prepare the Model#
The application reads the model as it is and does not modify elements. The conditions below determine the quality of a capture.
The room must be closed#
The application determines the shape of the room from the surfaces that enclose it. A gap in that enclosure is a route out of the room.
- Walls, floors and ceilings should meet. A junction that appears closed in plan may not be closed in 3D.
- Model the finished surface where it matters acoustically. The capture returns the surface as modelled.
- A stage house or open lobby connection is a genuine opening. The capture stops at the scope box and adds no surface across the opening, which is left open in the export.
Load linked models#
Most venues are contained in a linked architectural model. An unloaded link is invisible to the application, and is the most common cause of a capture that finds almost nothing. Check Manage → Manage Links before starting.
Only links loaded directly into the host model are read. A link nested inside another link is skipped.
Phases and worksets#
In a phased model the application uses the model's last phase, with the Show Complete phase filter, so that existing and new elements are captured and demolished ones are not. Set a different phase or filter in Settings → Capture Settings.
Closed worksets are not visible, and their elements are not captured.
What a capture leaves behind#
A capture creates 3D views and capture geometry, and removes both on completion unless they are retained for review. It also stores the venue's settings in the model. The DWG is written to disk; model elements are not changed.
