Walkthrough#
This walkthrough takes one room from an unprepared Revit model through to a DWG ready for import into acoustic simulation software, and brings the resulting loudspeaker design back into Revit. Following it end to end is the fastest way to become familiar with Performance AV before applying it to a live project.
What you'll need#
- Performance AV installed and running in Revit, licensed or within its trial.
- A Revit model containing an enclosed room.
- About 30 minutes.
For step 4 only:
- A loudspeaker family. The generic point source and ceiling loudspeaker installed with Performance AV are loaded with Load Speakers; any other family must be one that can be aimed. See Compatible families.
- An
.xldfile exported from the simulation software, containing the loudspeaker design for the venue captured in steps 1 to 3.
What this walkthrough covers#
- Setting up the venue — the scope box, the origin and the settings.
- Your first capture — running a capture and reviewing the result.
- Layers and the export — assigning layers, and importing.
- Bringing loudspeakers in — synchronising from an
.xldfile.

Each page builds on the previous one, but every page also stands alone if you only want to review a specific step. If you get stuck, the FAQ covers the most common issues.
