7. The DWG Export#
Location#
The export path is set per venue in
Settings → Project Info, and is asked on the venue's
first capture. The folder offered is the Default CAD export folder set in
Application Settings, or, where none is
set, an AcousticExport folder beside the Revit model. The file name offered is the venue
name.
The capture dialog reports the file location and opens the folder. A later capture of the same venue overwrites the file.
Contents#
The export contains the model's own surfaces: the faces of the elements, in the selected categories, that bound the venue.
- Surfaces are written as polyface meshes, which EASE imports. Flat faces keep their modelled shape.
- A curved face — a curved wall or domed ceiling — is exported as a series of flat panels following the curve.
- The export is a set of surfaces, not a solid.
- Where Trim exported surfaces to the scope box is enabled on the Geometry tab, as it is by default, faces that extend beyond the scope box are cut at it.
- Each surface is placed on a layer. See Surface layers.
Coordinates and units#
- The DWG origin is the position of the PAV-Origin.
- The DWG axes are the origin's own axes, as set by its rotation. See Place the origin.
- The file is written in the project's units, using Revit's DWG export.
Importing the file#
Import the DWG following the documentation for the simulation software. Confirm on import:
- The units match the project's units.
- The layers are present as separate layers. Where all geometry arrives on layer 0, the layers were not read on import.
- The enclosed volume corresponds to the volume of the room. A significant difference indicates a missing surface — return to Revit and check the result.
