Installation#

Before installing#

  • Close Revit. The installer cannot replace files that Revit has open.
  • The installer is per-machine and requires Windows approval. Where the workstation is centrally administered, the IT team will need to run it.

Installing#

  1. Run the downloaded .msi.
  2. Accept the licence agreement.
  3. The installer detects which Revit versions are present and installs for each.
  4. Start Revit.

The P-AV tab appears in the ribbon.

The P-AV ribbon tab

First run#

The application starts in a seven-day trial with full functionality.

To continue, register for the free beta trial in Settings → License → Register free trial. This opens a registration page in the browser, creates the account and emails a licence key. Enter the key on the same tab and click Activate. See License.

If the ribbon tab does not appear#

  1. Check Revit → Add-Ins. Where Performance AV is listed but the tab is missing, startup did not complete — report a problem.
  2. Confirm that PerformanceAV.addin is present in %PROGRAMDATA%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\<version>\, with the application files in the PerformanceBIM folder beside it. The application is installed for all users, and is therefore under ProgramData rather than the user profile.
  3. Revit may have blocked the add-in as untrusted. Check for a security prompt at startup and select Always Load.

Uninstalling#

Use Add or remove programs. Settings, logs, the licence key and the trial state are left in place, so that reinstalling restores the previous configuration.

To remove the application data as well, delete %APPDATA%\Performance BIM\Performance AV\ and the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\PerformanceBIM\PerformanceAV.
