Frequently Asked Questions#
Capture#
The capture found almost nothing.
Three causes, in order of likelihood. A linked model is not loaded — most venues are contained in a linked architectural model, and an unloaded link is invisible. Check Manage → Manage Links. The scope box does not contain the room; anything wholly outside it is ignored. A surface category is switched off in Capture Settings.
The capture came out as the wrong room.
The origin is in the wrong space — a corridor, a plant room, or the void above a ceiling. The capture starts from the origin. Move the PAV-Origin into the closed volume of the room and capture again. See Place the origin.
The ceiling is missing from the result.
The scope box stops at or below the ceiling. Elements outside the scope box are not captured, and the capture creates no surfaces of its own, so the room is left open at the top. Take the top of the scope box up beyond the acoustic volume and capture again. This is the most common finding on a first run.
Surfaces are missing from the result.
Compare the gap in the review view with that part of the model. The surface is usually not modelled, its link is not loaded, or its category is switched off in Capture Settings. A genuine opening is also possible. See Check the result.
The capture is slow.
A scope box much larger than the room, a very large linked model, or more surface categories than the venue requires. A general purpose auditorium usually takes roughly ten to fifteen seconds.
Only one venue can be captured at a time.
Batch capture is not supported. Venues are captured individually.
Capture creates temporary geometry in the model.
A capture creates 3D views and capture geometry during the run and removes both afterwards, unless they are retained under Diagnostics. Retained geometry is deleted with Remove Capture. Existing elements are never modified.
Export#
All geometry imported onto one layer.
The layers were not read on import. Check for a layer option in the simulation software's import dialog. The layers are present in the file, as opening it in a CAD viewer will confirm.
Loudspeakers#
Synchronised loudspeakers are aimed incorrectly.
Usually a reversed direction in the family's aim configuration. The aim map is held on the family rather than in Settings. Re-run Configure Speaker on the family and reverse the affected axis.
An existing loudspeaker family is not offered for synchronisation.
The family has not been configured, its configuration is not valid, or the configured family has not been reloaded into the project. Configure Speaker prepares any family that can be aimed. See Compatible families.
Licensing#
The licence key cannot be found.
The key is emailed on registration. It is also listed in the licence manager account under Licenses, reached from Settings → License → Manage license. See License.
The trial has expired and a key has been issued.
Open Settings → License, enter the key and click Activate. The License tab remains available when all other tabs are disabled.
The application is used without an internet connection.
Activation requires a connection. The licence is checked again each time Revit starts; where the licence server cannot be reached, the licence continues to work.
Data transmitted by the application.
Licensing information, which is required, and optionally capture reports that contain no names from the model. Nothing else is transmitted unless Report a problem is used. See Data and Privacy.
