Application Elements#

Performance Seating works with three types of Revit elements. All three must be present in the model before seats can be placed.

Row Reference Lines#

Row reference lines are standard Revit model lines assigned one of two linestyles recognized by the application — Center Aligned or End Aligned. The application reads each line's length and geometry to determine how many seats fit, how wide they should be, and where each one is positioned. Straight and curved (arc) lines are both supported.

Focus Points#

A focus point is a family placed at or near the performance area. It establishes the orientation of each row — identifying which end is House Left versus House Right — and serves as the sightline reference for calculations. Each focus point is assigned to a venue, and each row is associated with exactly one focus point.

Seats#

Seat families are purpose-built with the parameters the application needs to perform calculations and place objects precisely. Three family types are included: fixed seats, removable seats, and portable seats. Limited customization is supported; arbitrary third-party families are not compatible with the placement automation.
