Sample Model#

Download the Sample Model (R25)

The walkthrough uses a sample Revit project that demonstrates a complete proscenium-theater seating setup.

Download the sample#

Download the sample project from the button above (or the link below) and unzip it to a convenient location on your computer:

Download the Performance Seating sample model (Performance Seating Sample Model - R25)

The download contains two Revit models that work together:

1. Theater (architectural) model#

A proscenium theater shell with the geometry you will populate during the walkthrough:

  • A front orchestra section divided by a cross aisle into a front orchestra group and a rear orchestra group
  • A balcony at the second level
  • Reference geometry, levels, floors, and step / riser geometry for each section

This project is not initialized for Performance Seating — you will initialize it as the first step of the walkthrough.

2. Seating (linked) model#

A seat-only model that links in the theater model and is already populated with a finished seat layout. Use it as a reference for what the completed walkthrough should look like, and as a source for ready-made schedules.

The seating model includes Revit schedules that you can copy into your own projects to aid with seating documentation and editing, including:

  • Seat counts by size — totals broken down by seat width
  • Seat counts by section — totals for each section / row group
  • Seating by row — a row-by-row listing that makes it easy to review and adjust elevations across the whole venue

You will copy and use these schedules in the Documenting step of the walkthrough.

Open the model in Revit#

  1. Start Revit and open the theater (architectural) model from the download.
  2. Save a copy under a new name before making changes — this preserves the original sample for future reference.
  3. Open the floor plan view named for the seating level. This is the view in which you will place all reference lines, focus points, and seats.

If you want to compare your work to the finished example as you go, also open the seating (linked) model in a separate Revit session.

Next step#

Continue to Setting Up the Project to initialize the sample model so that Performance Seating commands become available.
