Row Staggering#

What staggering does#

Row staggering alternates the number of seats between adjacent rows (even vs. odd count) to create a lateral offset between rows. This is the primary method for achieving alternating-row sightlines. See Calculation Concepts for background on why this matters.

Starting Row setting#

The Starting Row dropdown sets the seat count parity for the first row being placed:

  • Even — The first row has an even number of seats
  • Odd — The first row has an odd number of seats
  • Best Fit — The application evaluates both options and uses whichever leaves the least remaining space between the last seat and the end of the row reference line

Stagger Rows checkbox#

When Stagger Rows is checked, each subsequent row alternates to the opposite parity from the row before it. When unchecked, all rows use the same parity as the Starting Row setting (or Best Fit independently for each row).

Note

The Stagger Rows checkbox is unavailable when the Mirrored Large/Small layout is selected, as that layout achieves its stagger effect through seat size arrangement rather than row parity.
