Seat Sizes#
The Seat Sizes command in the Graphics panel controls the visibility of seat size labels in the current view. Seat sizes display the nominal width of each seat as model text embedded in the family, providing a quick visual reference for the seat size distribution across each row.
How the command works#
The first time Seat Sizes is activated in a project, the application checks whether the PB_Seat_Width_Visible type parameter is enabled on the seat families present in the model. If it is not, the command turns it on automatically before adjusting subcategory visibility. Once enabled, the type parameter remains on — subsequent activations of the command only toggle the PB_Seat_Size subcategory in the current view.
Controlling visibility manually#
The seat size model text elements belong to the PB_Seat_Size subcategory under the Furniture category. Visibility can be adjusted directly in Revit's Visibility/Graphics Overrides dialog (VG) without using the ribbon command, giving full per-view control alongside any other Furniture subcategory overrides.
Mutual exclusivity#
Seat Sizes and Seat Numbers cannot both be visible at the same time in a view. Enabling Seat Sizes automatically disables Seat Numbers in the same view. The ribbon button reflects the current state.
View templates#
If the current view is controlled by a View Template, the application will prompt:
"The current view is a template view. Do you want to change the seat size visibility for the template?"
Clicking Yes applies the change to the View Template, affecting all views that use it. Clicking No cancels without changes.
Tip
Seat sizes are particularly useful during layout development for verifying that the calculation results match the intended seat mix for each row.
